Dear Friends of KOKES!
Thank you so much for your support of the Kingdom Campaign over the past 2 years! It has been quite a journey moving Kids of the Kingdom, Inc. to The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit. We could not have done it without your support both financially and spiritually! We are now officially Kids of the Kingdom Episcopal School (KOKES). This past May we graduated 26 four year olds who will start Kindergarten this coming fall. As I looked at their shining faces at the graduation ceremony, I realized that it had all been worth it! These children have been given a solid foundation on which to build their lives! My heart melted when one of the children told me how much she was going to miss going to Chapel.
In 2015 and 2016 your generous donations to the Kingdom Campaign (which was nearly $17,000 with mostly gifts of $100 or $200) allowed us to do some great things for the children.
- Sun Shade for our PK Playground ($8500). This was our major purchase from the Kingdom Campaign Funds.
- Advertising our program in the community
3. Insurance for our new facility
4. The planting of 7 trees
5. Mulch for 2 playgrounds and for the front of the school
6. New Summer Camp Curriculum (This consisted of 6 one week camps each with a different theme: The History of San Antonio, Botany, Physics, Art, Chemistry and Legos)
Click on the red button (top right) to see a picture of the Sun Shade. We also put all of the profits from our school fund-raising efforts this year toward the shade. We sold Butter Braid Pastry, Cookie Dough, School Pictures, Spring Catalogue Sale and Trunk Sale. This has made outside play possible during these hot summer months!
Since moving to our new facility we have grown from 60 children in August, 2015 to 83 in May, 2016. Last summer we had 46 children enrolled at Zion and this summer we have 67 children enrolled at our new location. Our new Summer Camp program has been a huge success. Although we are growing, there are still a few items that are beyond our normal operating budget and we are writing to ask your financial support in one specific area of purchasing a second Sun Shade for the toddler playground. This year we are inviting friends of KOKES to support us in our efforts to raise the funds for a toddler playground shade by offering a gift of $100 per person that this ministry has impacted. Perhaps this positive impact has been on a child, or a parent, or just someone who felt the joy that radiates from our school every day. Will you please join with other parents and friends in helping to shade our toddlers from the Texas sun? The total cost of the toddler playground shade is $7250.
We truly appreciate your support through prayer and will keep you informed of our progress. If you would also like to continue supporting this ministry financially, we have included a new pledge card. Donations can now be made on our website through Pay Pal. (kokepiscopal.org) We are excited about the opportunity to continue to partner with you in reaching children in San Antonio for Christ.
With Sincere Thanks,
Head of School
